Count the Possibilities

1968       Gunilla Ivansson

Lisa (Gun Falck) is a leading fashion designer, but her reputation is declining fast - a decline accelerated by her mental and sexual problems and tendency to drink heavily. She goes to many parties and each time, invites a young man to her home and makes passionate love to a point where her own self-disgust frustrates her completely.

In an effort to re-establish her self-control, Lisa rents a house in the country. She meets young and attractive Ingrid, (Gunilla Iwanson), who lives next door with her parents. She becomes deeply attracted to the girl and tempts her with the excitement and adventure of the fashion world.

Ingrid sees Lisa as her escape from her many problems at home. Ingrid's fiancee,.Harald, (Rex Bradhe), is deeply in love with her but because of his inexperience, has been unable to satisfy her strong sexual desires. Harald is rejected by Ingrid in favor of a modeling career with Lisa. In so doing, Ingrid opens the door to a life of sexual pleasure in which she freely

indulges. Each night brings another new conquest.

The two girls share an apartment and Lisa finds it more and more difficult to control her mounting desire for Ingrid, whose nightly escapades serve only to increase Lisa's frustration and bitterness.

In the meantime, Ingrid returns home to visit her parents and Harald proposes marriage. Ingrid informs him that this is impossible because of her sexual experiences with other men. Ingrid returns to Lisa's apartment in Stockholm, realizing Lisa's hunger for her but not yet aware of her own reciprocal feelings.

Nils, (Heinz Hopf), Lisa's male fashion associate and confidante is outraged by Lisa's association with Ingrid and continues to berate her for her foolishness and lack of control. This only serves to increase Lisa's sense of deterioration and self destruction.

The final scene provides a startling and exciting climax to the film.
