Tarzana The Wild Girl

1969       Fran Poles

Teaser Storyline for "Tarzana"
When a safari in the jungle of North Kilima-Njaro discovers the wreckage of a small airplane containing two adult skeletons, news reaches Sir Donovan (ALFRED THOMAS) in London. The old multi-millionaire is sure the remains are those of his son and daughter-in-law, who died some sixteen years before in that zone.

He is also heartened by the fact that no indications of his two year old granddaughter, Elizabeth, also on the flight, were found.

Encouraged by the possibility his granddaughter, his sole heiress, could be alive, he organizes a research expedition, to be led by Glen Shipper (KEN CLARK).

Donovan's secretary, Doris Miller (BERYL CUNNINGHAM) ; his relative, Groder (FRANK RESSEL); and another hunter, Fred (ANDREW RAY), are other members of the expedition. As the group leaves Nairobi for KiliniaNjaro, Groder, jealous of an additional claim on the old man's fortune, conspires with Fred to do away with the girl if she is found. Strange events, however, begin to befall the expedition.

The first occurs

when a leopard is killed, and is discovered wearing a singular collar on its neck. Soon afterwards, the group is attacked by native robbers, who suddenly flee in terror when an eerie, shrill cry is heard.

The expedition encounters other native groups and finds various artifacts, leading them to believe the girl is indeed alive. They also become conscious of being watched and followed.

Finally, they reach an area in which the animals are amazingly docile and obedient, and the natives very friendly. Glen discovers from the natives that a young girl lives in their midst, Tarzana (FRAN POLES).

Suddenly, he notices the naked, beautiful girl flying from liana to liana, and dropping into camp.

After awhile, Groder and Fred succeed in seizing Tarzana, and drugging her. Their plan to bury her in a sand drift is aborted when Fred, who plans to ransom the girl for an enormous sum of money, kills Groder.

Glen and the others overtake Fred and Tarzana, and during a skirmish Tarzana runs away. Fred tries to follow, but falls into a trap for animals and is pierced by the spears lining the pit's bottom.

Glen and Doris reach Tarzana and, showing her a doll found in the plane's wreckage, succeed in awakening her memory of the civilized world she once knew.
