1970       Anne Randall

Raised in San Francisco, beautiful Anne Randall broke into show business at the age of fourteen as a regular on Dick Stuart's DANCE ARTY on KPIX. Later, she broke into matrimony and became a regular in Dick Stuart's household; winning the doorprize of two step daughters. Before the later incident she moved to Los Angeles to become an actress and spent the next several years, "banging my head against the wall." She was then discovered by a photographer or PLAYBOY MAGAZINE and became Miss May of 1967.

Ms. Randall soon realized that you can't forge a profession out of having staple in your navel but credits the experience for launching her career. "I got an agent and started getting jobs doing TV commercials. . . The PLAYBOY spread attracted a lot of attention. Sexy ads are easy to sell hut it's hard to break away from that mold. I'd really like to do character parts but it looks like I'll have to wait till I get old." However, Anne did play a

crazed killer on MOD SQUAD; a job which led to her becoming a regular on TV's HEE HAW. She has also appeared on THE DORIS DAY SHOW, LOVE AMERICAN STYLE, and the Warner Bros. feature GET TO KNOW YOUR LOCAL RABBIT. She is currently developing a game show for the A.B.C. Television Network.

Marjorie Bennett, Hollywood's venerable actress - comedienne, makes her 202nd film appearance in STACEY, a sexy new James Bond type thriller which opens at the Theatre. It is her fiftieth anniversary in films. Miss Bennett migrated from Australia a half century ago at the insistence of her younger sister, silent movie star Enid Bennett, who played Maid Marion to Douglas Fairbank's ROBIN HOOD. She was immediately placed under contract to Thomas Ince to star with William S. Hart in his popular westerns. At the age of eighteen she "discovered" Rudolph Valentino at a tea dance at the old Alexandria Hotel. A few weeks later she invited him home to dinner.

"He arrived with an armful of roses. My sister called some producers and Rudy was on his way. He was invited to an over-night party up the Coast and borrowed a suitcase from us. We never saw Valentino or the suitcase again." Miss Bennett costarred with Charles Chaplin in LIMELIGHT, which last year won an Academy Award, twenty years after the film was made. Marjorie recalls the film thusly," When the picture was completed, I bought a new evening gown for the premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. But on opening night, the American Legion picketed the theatre. The picture was cancelled and Chaplin left for Europe. He did not return until last year when they gave him an honorary Oscar. I never got to see LIMELIGHT until a couple of weeks ago."
