Shame Shame Everybody Knows Her Name

1965       Karen Carson

Teaser Storyline for Shame Shame Everybody Knows Her Name

SUSAN BARTON comes to New York in "every girl's" search for the ideal man. While working nights as a go-go dancer at a Greenwich Village discotheque, she is approached by dating service proprietor, VIC KELLER, who promises her quick results via his elite male clientele. After some deliberation with her new roommate, DIANE ROGERS, Susan joins the service in anxious anticipation.

Her first date, ROY DAVENPORT, is a successful Public Relations man who wines and dines her at one of Park Avenue's finest night spots. After dinner, its back to his suite where an intoxicated Susan easily succumbs to Davenport's seductive charm. It's not long before the unwinding of his masterful plot and the 'set-up' arrival of his wealthy client, Four-star General Ben Motley. The scene-a voyeur's delight-is Davenport's 'cue' to execute the 'switch'. Finally aware of what's happening, Susan is shocked into hysteria.

Several days pass, and Susan's disillusionment is short-lived with the casual arrival of attractive GEORGE MICHAELS. His

approach is friendly and low-pressured. Receptive to his charm and good looks-and unsuspecting of George's affiliation with the dating service-Susan accepts his after-work invitation. A quick check with roommate, Diane, underlines Diane's own preferences-She's busy entertaining an ex-roommate-CAROL TAGGART.

Back at his village pad, Susan easily gives way to George's coaxing. The escapade is once again short-lived when George's photographer friend shows up at his apartment window. Susan is once again victimized by her suitor's deceit.

The two rather traumatic incidents lead Susan to a candid talk with sophisticated Diane. Confiding all, Diane suggests that maybe she's had enough. The implication-though not overly subtle-escapes Susan's grasp. Diane takes leave.

A clandestine meeting with Vic Keller quickly establishes Diane's motives. She has been in league with Keller from the very beginning, the sole intent being to disillusion Susan's appetite for men. The dates have been selected and screened for their promise of instant disillusionment. In a last ditch effort, Diane collaborates with Keller on a plan that must succeed.

There follows a 'wild' penthouse party which Susan and Diane both attend. During the course of the evening, Susan makes off with JIM NORTON-an antique dealer of unpredictable temperament. It's soon back to his antique shop and the oddities that follow. Frustrated by Susan's instant disappearance and the unpredicted turn of events, Diane calls Keller who warns of Norton's threat to Susan's safety. Distraught and desperate, Diane seeks Keller's advice. They agree to follow in hot pursuit. Norton turns out to be a potential killer, chains Susan to an upstairs chair and begins a sadistic, erotic ritual. A desperate and dramatic finale leads to Norton's brutal murder and Susan's ultimate rescue.

The final scene effectively leaves open the course of Susan's future. The audience is invited to speculate on the conclusion of events.
