Colossus: The Forbin Project

1970       Susan Clark

A science-fact drama that explores the world of the near future, Universal's production in Technicolor and Panavision, "COLOSSSUS The Forbin Project;" starring Eric Braeden, Susan Clark and Gordon Pinsent, will opened in 1970.

"COLOSSUS The Forbjn Project" investigates the man vs. machine dilemma, It is the story of a super-computer designed to defend the United States by detecting any threat to the country and by launching missiles on the aggressor nation. The machine calmly expands itself, communicates with man, and eventually controls the world--- in the name of peace. Braeden portrays a world-renowned computer expert who developed Colossus, the largest computer complex ever devised. Braeden gained great popularity as a regular in TV's "Rat Patrol." Miss Clark is an attractive scientist working with Braeden on the project. This marks her sixth starring role in two years. She was last seen in "Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here" with Robert Redford, and prior to that she starred in "Coogan's Bluff" with Clint Eastwood.

Based on the novel "Colossus" by D.F. Jones, and screenplay

by James Bridges, "COLOSSUS The Forbin Project" was directed by Joseph Sargent and produced by Stanley Chase.

"COLOSSUS The Forbin Project" has been rated "GP - All ages admitted. Parental guidance suggested".

Science-Fact Story, "Colossus The Forbin Project," Features Immense Electronic Data Computer

The computer finally has arrived in Hollywood. For many years Universal Studios has used its own computer to handle inventory control, accounts payable and payroll. Now the world's largest studio has put a huge accounting machine on Technicolor and Panavision film in an exciting science-fact story,"COLOSSUS The Forbin Project" coming . . . to the . . . Theatre. The human stars are Eric Braeden, Susan Clark and Gordon Pinsent.

"The computer in the picture is named 'Colossus,' "says producer Stanley Chase, "and for that we had the help of Control Data Corp. which loaned us, rent free, more than four million dollars worth of brand-new equipment."

The film itself explores the man vs. machine dilemma. It is the story of a super-computer designed to defend the United States by detecting any threats to the country and by launching missiles on the aggressor. In "COLOSSUS The Forbin Project" the machine calmly expands itself, communicates with man, and eventually controls the world -- in the name of peace.

Although pretty Canadian actress Susan Clark has appeared nude in her last four films, none can match her daring scenes for Universal's Technicolor and Panavision science-fact drama, "COLOSSUS The Forbin Project" The curvaceous redhead who recently completed a starring role opposite Robert Blake and Robert Redford in "Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here," "bares all" in that adventure film. But for "COLOSSUS The Forbin Project", "all" means a gigantic X-ray of her skeleton. Quipped Susan: "I guess I've run the gamut in Hollywood -- from skin to bones."
